Science
This week we did an experiment to look at Chromotography - the process of separating substances.
First we built a chromo tower, then we drew a spot on our filter paper with felt pen. We hung our filter paper from the tower and placed the tip of our paper in water. The water travelled up the paper like plants drink water from the soil. The colour separated into lots of colours.

The Disappointment Dragon
Mrs Castle read us a story called 'The Disappointment Dragon'. Everybody knows him but nobody likes him! He loves children because when they throw tantrums which feeds him and makes him blow out fire. But we will not let him take us to his home which is a valley of despair because we know how to make him go away! We can pull ourselves together and count backwards from 10. We can also think of something else to distract us. We can do something nice for someone else and that will also make us feel good. The Dragon of Hope is always ready to take us to a land of joy and rainbows.
We drew amazing pictures and wrote great stories which we proudly shared in assembly.

Kia Kaha
Constable Sue talked to us about how to help when you see someone who has no one to play with or when other kids are being mean to someone.
We say "Stop it!" to the mean kids and then say "Come and play with us!" to the person who has no one to play with. She read us some stories and showed us pictures. We talked about what was happening in the pictures.
Saint Patrick's Day
Miley's mum gave us the story of Saint Patrick. He got rid of all the snakes in Ireland. Everyone wears green because there are lots of green hills in Ireland.

Filling Buckets!
Everyone in the world carries an invisible bucket.
We are doing lots of nice things for each other in Room 9.
When we fill someone else's bucket, we also fill our own.
Look at our lovely buckets!
